[Opinions] Hawthorn
What do you think of Hawthorn as a male name? Do you prefer the spelling Hawthorne?

I like it a lot. No real nickname potential, but it's actually quite short to say and I think it sounds very masculine (good or bad thing, I guess).

With an -e on the end, it at least looks like a ln and therefore is somewhat acceptable. As a tree name, it's silly.

To my surprise I do like it (I'm usually into classical and rather "frumpy" names for boys, heh, heh). I think I prefer the spelling with an E.
The problem is, what would you call him? Haw? Thorny? Howie?

I love it! I prefer Hawthrone, because I'm more used to that spelling. We have a street in my neighbourhood named Hawthorne, so Hawthorn kind of looks incomplete to me. What do you think of Thor as a nickname?

I think it's cool, but more suitable as a surname than a FN/MN. I prefer the Hawthorne spelling though, it looks and feels more complete.

That's pretty cool actually. I think I prefer Hawthorne =)

I've always loved Hawthorn especially spelled Hawthorne. I love that it is unconventional, natural and woodsy but also a bit preppy and clasic.

I like it as a character name. I feel that it is way too pretentious to use in real life. I like it without the e.
