It's alright. It doesn't strike me as extra lovely but it's fine as a nickname. It's pretty cute. For some reason it makes me think of cheap earrings but that's probably just me.
I think it would work as a nickname for any name that starts with Jo, tbh. I have a soft spot for Josephine but I like Joey more.
Joanie I think could only be from Joan. Joan is a very Enid Blyton name. It seemed she was always calling characters Joan!
I read a book the other day that had a Jane nn Janey in it. Just throwing it out there.
