[Opinions] Carey or Kerry (for a boy)
The thought of using Carey or Kerry for a boy has been growing on me lately and neither seem super popular for either gender at the moment. Do you think Carey or Kerry are suitable for a boy, in the US, and which spelling do you prefer?

I like Cary.I just think it looks better and it reminds me of Cary Grant.I love Cary/Carey/Kerry on a boy. I think it's handsome.

Thank you for the mostly encouraging response. I was a bit nervous that I would get a lot of "no it's too girly" responses even though I would have had to disagree. Although I prefer the Carey spelling written down I am leaning a bit more towards Kerry based on the responses. I can see a lot of potential for Carey to be confused with CARE-ee or Carrie, and Kerry seems to be easier for most people to relate the way it is said to the way it is spelled.

I agree with a lot of people that Cary is a great spelling. It looks more like a given name to me than Carey. Carey makes me think of the surnames of Drew Carey and Jim Carrey.Cary vs Kerry I have a hard time deciding between. Both are great masculine spellings. Cary seems less like a surname than Kerry because I know of more men who use the spelling Cary as a fn. Cary reminds me of Cary Grant and Cary Elwes. Kerry I like the look of and it still seems like a fn to me even if I can't think of many guys who actually have it as a fn. The more I think of it the more I lean towards Cary but Kerry is a close second.

I really like it spelled Cary. Kerry and Carey sound different in my accent, but then I'm not from the US. I think both are probably usable though.

I love itI think it's sooo handsome, and I'd use it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, my SO thinks the idea of it as a boy's name is completely ridiculous. I can understand his point of view, even though I don't agree with it. Carrie, in all its spellings, may not be popular for girls right now, but that doesn't mean it's not firmly entrenched as a female name. As much as I love it for a boy, I keep it on my GP/middle name list unless I'm toying with it as a potential nn for Charles. My preferred spelling is Cary, since I think it has the most masculine vibe thanks to Grant and Elwes, and I don't really have a preference between Carey and Kerry.

Not really a fan sorry. For some reason it seems girly to me. I'm not sure if it's actually used on girls but it just has that feel to it. I feel the same way about Kelly, even though I know a boy Kelly. I don't live in the U'S though so not sure.A note on the spelling; I think Carey could potentially be pronounced differently with an emphasis of the CARE part of the name. I think maybe I prefer the Kerry spelling, but only slightly.

I think Carey and Kerry work equally well for a boy but I personally like the spelling Kerry more in general because it feels more like a fn to me than Carey does.

I like Kerry :) I don't live in the US but I know two male Kerrys and no female so the name seems very masculine to me.Carey I don't like much at all. It's got "care" in both the sound and spelling so it makes me think of Care Bears.
