I came across the name Fox a few days ago, and I actually kind of like it. As a middle name only, and on a boy. I wouldn't ever use it myself, but what do you think?

I'm also an X-Files fan but I think Fox is a terrible name. Even Mulder himself didn't like it. I mean, he made his own mother call him Mulder.

Yeah same here. I definitely think of Fox Mulder first. Then I think of Fox News and the animal. Inspite of the Fox News connection I'd still use it.
I've always approved of the name when I've met people with it. I've met at least two guys and one girl with Fox as their fn.

Fox News could be an issue if you're American, which I'm not. So the association isn't very strong for me.

You do have a point, but when naming your child you can't take into account every single country it might travel to later.

Hm, I don't know. I don't think you can decide if you are going to use a name based on where the child might travel or live. Considering how many people who actually travel to the US, it would mean that lots of names with a strong American connection should not be used.
Whenever I see someone post about Benedict there's always someone who says something about Benedict Arnold and how that association makes Benedict more or less unusable in the US. But I don't live in the US. I really don't care about this, to me, obscure person. Why should I consider how usable Benedict is in a country I have no ties to whatsoever because my child might travel there?
I get that words that mean bad things are something you need to consider much more, especially since English really is an international language and most people know some English, but names that just happen to have a strong connection in one English-speaking country?

I live in the US and knew a kid named Fox. Even though my dad watches Fox News, the association never crossed my mind. (I'm more of a Daily Show/ Colbert Report fan myself.) There could be parts of the country that are as strong against Fox as we all are about Benedict, but I don't see it as being a huge problem like you. I see it as an adjective name (short for Foxy) or an animal name (Leo, Bear, Hawk, Snake).
ETA- My dad used to work at a company called Fox, assembling farm equipment. I live near the Fox River, and a group of cities and towns on it is collectively called The Fox Cities. The minor league baseball team there was the Appleton Foxes. A mall there is Fox River Mall. Like another person added, Fox Mulder from The X Files. There are enough associations for foxes that the news channel isn't strong.

See, I thought of Fox News because I'm a Daily Show/Colbert Report fan. Both shows mention it so much, it got stuck in my brain.

I think of the animal
I didn't think of Fox news at all when I heard the name. I think more of the little woodland animal. It's kind of cute. I would never use the name myself, just not my style. But, if I met a person named Fox I'd probably think it was cool.

I like it. My first thought is of the animal. I think it could be very striking with the right first name.

I actually do quite like it too, it's kind of a gp for me. As you said, definitely for a mn for a boy.

My niece has the middle name Fox. I prefer it for a boy - I think it's pretty cute!

I would make a cool middle name if it wasn't for the sexual connotations. Because of those though, I'd steer clear.

I love it! It's one of my favorite GPs for a boy. I love it because of the X-files and Fox Mulder but I guess the X-files association is not very strong anymore.
In theory I prefer it as a first name but in real life it's probably better as a middle name. My GP combo is Fox Golden.

It's cool as a middle name. Since it is a surname, it might be assumed that it's a family name.
