[Opinions] Names of Icelandic children
From Mary Ellen Mark's photo book Undrabörn/Extraordinary Child photographed at schools and daycare center for mentally challenged children in Iceland. I think the Icelandic names have a very special beauty.

Pronounciations:
á = ow
au = uy
ö = uh
ó = oh
j = like y in "yes"
ey = ay

I've loved the Icelandic language since I first heard the Icelandic version of Once Upon a December (http://youtu.be/SkNG7h_wu1g). It has a magical sort of sound to it.Although I have to admit I nearly choked when I got to Blómey... immensely unfortunate name to have should they travel anywhere where English is spoken haha! And while Jökull looks lovely, it sounds like 'yokel', which is also unfortunate. Then there's Gudbjörg-- I have to say this is actually one of the ugliest names I have ever, ever seen. It's up there with Gertrude. I like:Alexander Vidar
Lilja
Sigurjón
Anna Sóley - Sóley is very pretty and I'm kinda in love with it now and have added it to my pnl!
Lára Lilja - like them separately but it sounds funny in a combo
Klara
Ólöf
Helena
Ástrós
Elín
Beinta - this is so different and I kinda love it.
Justé
Karolis
Arna

Ólafur
Sólmundur - this name is amazing and I'm now determined to use it in a story somehow.
Jóhanna
Eydís - very pretty, now on pnl

I don't get the Blómey joke. I looked up the word "bloomy", which I have heard (they sing something about "being bloomy" in the musical Anything Goes) but all I got when I looked it up was "resembling a flower" and I can't see anything horrible about that, so there must be a synonym I've not heard about...
BTW I think Blómey means "flowering island" in Icelandic (I don't speak the language, but I know the pronounciation pretty well).
