One of my middle names is Diane also and it's always been dated and ordinary to me as well. Definitely not my favorite name, and I'm not sure if it was even my parents either. I was named after an aunt that I don't like. My other middle name is rather dated in my opinion as well (Megan) but I think they sound nice together. But Diane is nothing special to me, certainly nothing to rave about.
