I absolutely love Jay! It's on my favourites list (and PNL), and I really like it for a boy. I think it works really well as a first name, and I'd never really assume or think it was short for anything. For some reason it feels like more of a full name for a boy, but more of a nickname for a girl (maybe because a I knew a girl with nn J?). I also like the nature/bird connection, and the subtle link to my name, which begins with J.

Ohh, that's interesting you'd never assume it was a nn for anything on a boy. The subtle link to J beginning names as a kind of honouring is neat too. It didn't occur to me! I like Jay even more, now... My SO's name is Jordan :)
