[Opinions] Sedona
What do you think of the name Sedona? What middle name would you suggest for it?
For me the name Sedona brings to mind the desert at sunset. I love it's sound and the vibe I get from it. Sedona seems peaceful and natural but fun.
What do you think of these combos?
Sedona Joy
Sedona Jessamy
Sedona Isobel
Sedona Felicity
Thanks!

When I think of Sedona I think of Californian tourists and New Agers, rather than the landscape surrounding Sedona. *sigh* Probably because it was the first town I explored after a long road trip through the deserts of Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona, and what I saw was the touristy part of town. So the landscape wasn't what struck me about the town, so much as the contrast between my road-scruffy feeling and the shininess of the people on Sedona's cute shopping blocks. lol. I had heard that Sedona had some attraction for New Age types.
Well, that was in the 90s. I guess I don't know anymore. I think I can't do any better at evoking the Southwest landscape with a pleasing name. It's a nice name.
I would prefer Sidonia because it seems more of a first name to me, and less of a place name. Also the sed- part of Sedona makes me think of the word sedation. I would not think of that if I met someone named Sedona. It might occur to me to wonder if her parents were New Agers.
The combo Sedona Jessamy is nice.

I didn't have that sort of experience in Sedona but I could absolutely see it happening. I was camping more recently so I guess that makes a difference.
Sidonia doesn't really appeal to me, unfortunately.
Thanks!

mostly echoing Mirfak ...
It's an attractive sound, but has a hippie-dippie vibe that seems a bit ful of itself. It also sounds like it wouldn't at all be out of place as the name of a high-end pickup truck. (For all I know, it already is one; they've got Tahoe and Malibu and Dakota and Tundra, why not Sedona as well?)
I would try and keep the middle name simple and not common-noun. Sedona Joy sounds like a music festival, and Sedona Felicity sounds like a detox camp in the desert.
Sedona Jean
Sedona Louise
Sedona Michelle
Sedona Elaine

I forgot to mention, it actually is/was the name of a car - the Kia Sedona, a minivan of all things.
I don't think that ruins it as a first name. But it is kind of funny that you mentioned it.

Sedona's sound is what drew my attention and it sort of does have that old hippie vibe (I like that). As mirfak stated below in her response, it's the name of a minivan. I didn't want to mention that. lol
You're right about the combos: Sedona Joy sounds like a music festival and Sedona Felicity sounds like a rehab. Darn. I'm not heartbroken though. Sedona's not really a name I could see myself using but it is a current favorite.
I like your suggestion of Sedona Jean.
Thanks!

I think pairing a word name with Sedona is a bad thing, even Jean.
Good point. I tend to forget Jean is also associated with jeans material. It's my grandmother's middle name so I don't think of anything else.
I wonder what cut Sedona Jeans would be. lol

I can understand the appeal of Sedona because for years, I loved the similar sounding Sonora even though place names generally are not my thing. Sedona does have a pleasant sound. For a mn, I like something that isn't too long or has too many vowels. Of your combos, I do like Sedona Joy best. It's lovely. WDYT of Sedona Isabel (rather than Isobel), Sedona Carmen or Sedona Belen?
I like Sonora and I've actually asked about it before on another website. I think it was more well received than Sedona, though it may have been the group I was asking.
I think Sedona Joy is my favorite of my combos, or Sedona Victoria which I combo'd after my first post.
Sedona Isabel is a nice alternative to Isobel.
Thank you!
