[Opinions] Rose
What do you think of Rose as a first name? I'm really beginning to appreciate it, it's so simple and evocative and it's a name that suits anyone and has a ton of symbolism and history.
I also think it goes really well with a more unusual middle names, which is fun, right now I love the combo Rose Artemisia.
So what are your thoughts on Rose?

I think Rose is a lovely name and it makes a very pretty first name. It's not common as a first name these days either, which adds to the appeal.
Rose is lovely as a first name. I've only ever met one.
I love it. Unfortunately I can't use it as both of my husband's uncles have ex-wives called Rose!
It is my middle name and I find it boring as a middle name, but it's pretty and refreshing as a first name.
Rose Artemisia is gorgeous. Rose goes well with longer and more unusual middle names.
How about...
Rose Antonia
Rose Cassiopeia
Rose Matilda
Rose Esmeralda
Rose Wilhelmina
Rose Caitriona
Rose Julianna
Rose Penelope

I love Rose so much! It's a beautifully simple name =)
I agree with just about everything you said except that I'd be more likely to pair Rose with Anastasia or something along those lines. It's nice to see it used as a fn. There's an actress who recently named her dd Rose and I'm hoping she'll inspire others to consider Rose for the fn name position rather than relegating it to the middle.
I love Rose as a first name and wish it was more popular.
I really like Rose, and I wish it was used more as a first name. Here are some combos...
Rose Aveline
Rose Bryony
Rose Calanthia
Rose Darling (I know it's precious, but I couldn't resist)
Rose Elaine
Rose Fatima
Rose Georgiana
Rose Harper
Rose Ingrid
Rose Julia
Rose Karenina
Rose Linda
Rose Moira
Rose Nicole
Rose Olivia
Rose Phaedra
Rose Queen (overkill?)
Rose Red (definitely overkill)
Rose Susannah
Rose Tamsin
Rose Uma
Rose Vivian/Vivienne
Rose Wallis
Rose Xiomara
Rose Ygritte
Rose Zelda

I love it, and wish more people would use it as a first name while avoiding it as a middle name, as it has become trite and overused as such.
I like it a lot. It's still a little bit antique seeming (in the US anyway) and wants another decade or two to be youthful again IMO. I guess that's not true in the UK, where it is becoming popular as a baby name.
As a name (not really on impression of a person named it), I think it's so loaded with symbolism and history that it could be positively grave. But it's proud enough, and floral enough, to be bright, not dark. It's a power-name, disguised as a pretty-flower-name. I'll never stop feeling like it is a little bit stately or matronly, even if it does become fashionable. But since it's a flower name, that doesn't matter!
I ran into a little girl named Rosie and found myself hoping it was a nickname for Rose, and not for Rosemary or Rosalie or whatever. Rose by itself is so much more of a name.
I recognize Artemisia as the name of a plant. So that combo is a bit much for me. How about Rose Demetria, Rose Apollonia, Rose Eugenia, Rose Octavia, Rose Ariadne, Rose Athena?

I know a young woman(about 26) always called Rosie, her actual name is Maria-Rose. Plus a lot of middle names, that family is given to over-middle-naming. One of her names is Exelia, possibly a saint, not sure.
Yeah, here in the UK it's pretty popular! I know plenty of Rosies but barely any people who just go by Rose, so Rose is still fairly distinctive but not at all dated.
I love your description, Rose is one of those names that seems romantic but is also pure steel - Valentina is another for me.
I have a thing for plant names so it's kind of a plus for me, but I get you. Rose Demetria is awesome. Rose Ariadne too, but Demetria sounds so powerful with Rose.

Rose is very pretty, and less overdone as a first name than as a middle. I wouldn't want a really fancy middle name: Rose Artemisia is pretty puffed-up and sounds a bit like exotic perfume. But Rose Amanda, Rose Carlotta, Rose Dionne, Rose Lorraine, Rose Patricia ...
Hah, I think that's why I like it - there's so few names that work with over the top flowery middles for me, Rose is like the only one. But if I was naming my daughter for real it's not what I'd use. I really like Rose Patricia, it's probably something I'd actually use since Patricia is a family name for me. Rose Carlotta is beautiful too.
