I know someone with a six-year-old Carol. Surprising but nice choice. I don't mind the extra e, but it does make me want to pronounce it ka ROLE.:)

Remember The Glums? 1950s (I think) BBC radio comedy? Mr Glum pronounced it Car 'ole, like an unexpected ditch full of wheeled vehicle. Enough to put any thinking namer off it for life!
