I live in the US, so I'm not sure how they pronounce it in England, but I pronounce it more like dahl-ya, the first part rhyming with call or fall, not hay or okay. I also don't space the second part out much like lee-ah, it sort of gets mushed together. I prefer the Dahlia spelling, like the flower, and I think is more like how you're describing you want it pronounced. Dalia looks much more like it would be pron. day-lee-ah not dah-lee-ah.

I prefer Dalia. It looks cleaner than Dahlia to me -- I don't love how the H looks in there. I'd pronounce them both DAH-lee-ah, though.

Funnily enough, I almost posted about this name on Friday. I have always been attracted to the spelling Daliah - it's the name of a 1960s era Israeli movie star, Daliah Lavi, and while I assume she pronounced it like the more usual Dalia that spelling might suit your needs.

I live in the UK and I have heard it pronounced Day-lee-ah and Dah-lee-ah, irregardless of whether it has been spelt with an 'h' or not.

My preferred spelling Dahlia.

I live in England, and always thought Dahlia was Dah-lee-uh, then it turns out my own mother says Day-lee-uh (because of the flower apparently) lol. But I have a cousin Dahlia, whose name is said the way you want, so I'd just stick with Dahlia. Dalia I'd be less inclined to say Dah-Lee-uh, and more likely Dal-ee-uh or even Day-lee-uh.

I named my daughter this a few months ago.. Ppl pronounce it however they want we used the H because we wanted it to be the flower name not the Hebrew version and we though the h promoted the ah sound but some ppl even say dal ya like rhyme with pal sound. I've never gotten day lee ah however I will say I think it's interesting that even when I introduce her and say it my way they will repeat a whole different sounding name at times. Thankfully I don't hate dal ya either or I'd regret my name choice. So if I were you I'd be ok with either pronunciation (I do get dolly-a a lot) or choose a more cut & dry name.
