My husband LOVES this name.. I am not quite convinced by it though.. Hughie or Bertie would be cute nicknames.

I cannot believe anybody's husband loves this name, that's incredible. Bless your hearts. And I totally agree that Hughie or Bertie would be cute.

Wow, that really is the sweetest meaning. The thing with hipster nerdy cool is it might well be perceived as that by people who know enough to know that's a thing. But to everybody else and their uncle, it's just nerdy. Which I love even more than hipster nerdy cool. So, big thumbs up for Hubert over here. Nickname Hugh? Yes please.

Almost hipster cool. Almost. I like it in the same way I like Humphrey, and it does have the loveliest meaning. But, while I hate to be the person who brings up a negative association, I look at Hubert and think of Humbert Humbert. Also of Pubert from the Addams Family, but that just makes me giggle.

I also get Humbert Humbert-meets-Pubert vibes from it, unfortunately. Sigh!

is this pronounced Hugh-bert or Hub-ert? Just wondering?
Also what is a hipster?

I say "hyoo-bert". I guess in France it would be "you-bare". LOL!A hipster is a term for cool people who have made being uncool into an art form.
