[Opinions] French names I came across
Replies
Cool! I love Therese. Dominique is great too. Sonya and Sophia, noooo.
I don't fully understand how to pronounce Georges but I'm generally a fan of any George-ish name. Yann is so nice too, I know a Yannick and I think of him. And Claude is one of my favorite names but not so much with the Jean in front.

This interests me very much, as I'm in a French-speaking area (for new posters) in Canada.
Most of the girl names are used here, though not Aurelie, and rarely Fanny.
Also, several of the boy names, though not Reza, an Arabic name.
Hyphenated names are always in use, though for children, they are less apt to be , for example, Jean-Claude or Jean-Paul,and more Leo-Paul, Jean-Sebastien, Pierre Marc, Marc-Andre.

Beautiful list.
Aurelie is adorable. I almost went with this or Adelie instead of Nadine for this next baby. Nadine is on your list too... which is my favorite name at the moment. It's just so strong, yet has a delicate feel. It's almost clunky, but the French flair livens it up enough to be fresh, I think.
Dominique has always been a bit much for me, but I like the name in theory.
Fanny is a bit unusable to me. But it delights me every time I see it used in a foreign country (and makes me giggle of course!).
Nina is pretty, but this is all Italian to me. I know oodle and oodles of Ninas. They are mostly named Antonina or something like that. But Nina nonetheless.
Sonya is pretty. I like Sonia a but better, but I think this is a lilting name that always manages to sound modern.
Sophia is boring imo, I much prefer Sophie.
Therese - LOVE! I often grab this as a nickname suggestion. It's classy, yet simple and versatile enough to fit with any theme.
Asim - Not sure if I like it. But, it is certainly interesting.
Constatin - Is bold, and cool. I think it might be a bit too cool (like Axle), but I like it.
Georges - Sounds magnificent in French, but a bit silly in English.
Jean-Claude - always makes me think of Van Damm, and that is not a bad thing. ;)
Jon and Jonathan - Simple, states and classic. I like this spelling the best of this name.
Maurice - On our list. I prefer the Italian Maurizio, as it is my favorite Uncle's name. However, Maurice is far more accessible and smooth as a name for today. Love it.
