I think it's a lovely name. Not one I'd use for any reason, but I'd love to see it.

pronunciationWhat is the REAL pronunciation? I have heard so many varieties. My dad said my great aunt Irene Signy pronounced it 'SIG-nee' but I'm sure that's not actually standard.

The Signe I know also pronounces her name SIG-nee. That's not standard?

In Swedish, Signe is pronounced SING-neh, but I think the older variant Signy was pronounced SIG-nih.

Signe is okay, and certainly looks nice, but Signy looks a little messy to me.

I like it. I prefer the Signy spelling.

Signe is what I would name a daughter if I had one today. I am Swedish and (unfortunately) the name is quite popular among newborns these days - place 28 last year.

I love the name, but I'm afraid it would get mispronounced a lot.

I like it. I only know one, and she uses the Signe spelling. In general I think I like it best as a middle name though.

I'm unsure. I recently found out that my great aunt was called Irene Signy (prn. IE-ree-nee)(her sisters were Helen (mn unknown) and Ida Dorothy. They were Swedish. So I'm thinking about it. I don't know what I think yet though, which probably means I'm not that keen, but who knows. I'm still slightly attached to it because of this recently discovered connection, and it is fairly unusual (here, at least) so I'm not ready to put it down yet.

Honestly I hate it mainly because I went to school with a nasty girl named Signe. Also the teachers were always mispronouncing her name as "sign-ee" which isn't good.

I didn't know what to think of it at first, but it's growing on me the more I look at it. I prefer the spelling Signe. Maybe a good name for a twin could be Sage.
