[Opinions] Chet: Nickname for Charles, or Chester? (m)
I have always loved the NN Chet. I think it's zippy and fun just the right amount of old man. I just wanted to ask if people like it better as a nickname for Charles (nice, sturdy, kind of boring) or Chester (more fun than Charles, but I can't help but tack "molester" at the end of it.) So, WDYT? Do you even like Chet? I'm open to other opinions, but I still like it, so whatever. :P

Between the two options, I say Charles. I don't actually like Charles, but I cannot separate Chester from molester, sadly.
What about the nickname Chet for Charlton?
A bit more obscure, but also Chariton or Chetan?
Or, if it's not "cheating" because the ch doesn't actually say "ch": Christopher, Christoph, Christian, or Christer?

I love Chet! I think it works best as a nickname for Chester and I really do love the name expect for the fact that Chester in Gunsmoke isn't exactly an idiot.. but he messes everything up everytime. Aside from that I think Chester is a great name and should get a comeback. I could see how it would work for Charles but I think Chester is a cooler name and Charles already has Chaz which is cool :P
I'd honestly never would think to tack "molester" to the end of Chester, even though that's exactly what they did with my sister Esther's name.
Charles is one of those boring names like James and Henry; nothing exciting, incredibly classic, tons of history, probably something like 50+ kings of at least 10 countries.
Chester to me feels like some guy who hangs out in a swamp wrestling alligators. Nice guy, cheerful, friendly - loves his family (which is probably large with lots of cousins and aunts and uncles). Probably not a whole lot of higher education.
Chet is a nice enough nn, but I'm having trouble picturing it on anyone younger than about 14/15.
