Opinions on Andrew please.
It's my SO's middle name but also his brother in laws first name. I don't even particularly know his BIL that well- would it be weird to use his name on a future son? Hypothetically.
I didn't even much care for the name until recently. I have a hard time picturing it on a baby but think it's rather dashing and sturdy on a man. I'd avoid all nicknames if possible
And if you're feeling so inclined, throw some combos my way- the wilder the better, since Andrew is so plain

I like this name, it's my boyfriends name and I connect only positive things with it.
I would definitely consider it as one of my future sons names.
Here in the UK it's a totally common and very much liked name
and nobody thinks of it as being boring or strange for a child.

I don't really like Andrew but mainly because the few Andrews I know are all a bit weird in some way... like painfully shy, or very awkward or really inappropriate. I'm sure it's just a coincidence!
Also, if you want to avoid nicknames I would be careful because many people will assume it is shortened to Andy and might just call him Andy without asking (I know an Andrew who has this problem!)

I think it's perfectly fine to use it. I've known a few kids named Andrew and it actually doesn't seem so out of place on a baby or small child.

Funny---I don't have any problem picturing Andrew on a baby at all.
I think Andrew is a handsome name and I like it. It's just been overused, so it seems boring. I do hate the nickname Andy, but there's always Drew or the full name.
However, I think it would be weird to use it if it's SO's brother-in-law's name, assuming your SO would be the dad.

I have never been a fan of the name Andrew. I used to strongly dislike both Andrew and Matthew, but Matthew eventually grew on me. I dislike the "drew" element of the name, and really dislike the nickname "Andy" on any gender, with any spelling. I don't know why the sounds grate on my ears so much.
But I believe I'm in the minority. I don't think you'll find many complaints from society at large if you name your son Andrew.
Only combo I can think of off the top of my head is Andrew Franklin.

I really don't like it sorry. Apart from it being plain and common, I hate the "Drew" part, it sounds horrible.

I really like Andrew, and the nn Andy is kind of nice, even though it is definitely an aw-shucks kind of name.
Since it's your boyfriend's middle name, it wouldn't seem odd to name a son Andrew; it would just be assumed, correctly, that he was being named after his dad.
