I pronounce Maya/Maia as "my-a". I've never heard it pronounced as "me-ah" before. I think I have heard it pronounced "may-a" once or twice.

I'm not a big fan of Isla, but it is pretty and sounds nice with Amelia, and Amelia sounds nice with Maia, but I think that Isla and Maia may have too similar of a sound.

Well, I'm biased, because my mn is Maya :-)
I prefer the spelling Maya, it just looks nicer. But there is also the spelling Maja which is pretty too.
I live in Germany and it is pronounced MA-ya, in Scotland, where the rest of my family lives, it is also pronounced like that.

I think Isla, Amelia and Maya would make a nice sibset, if that is what you mean. As mn what about Isla Corinne, Amelia Josephine and Maya Therese.

I believe the "correct" pronunciation is MYE-ah. MAY-ah just seems too phonetic and kre8tiv imo. I like both of these spellings, but slightly prefer Maia. I detest Mya. :( Isla & Maia/Maya are a little too similar sounding for siblings imo. Isla & Amelia or Amelia & Maia sound fine, though.

As for Isla, Amelia and Maya, Maya strikes me as a nn for Amelia (as Mia is a common nn for it), and I think Maya is a little rhymy with Isla, but within acceptability.

I see Maia and Maya as two different names - Maia as in the Roman goddess, and Maya as either an Indian or a Jewish name. However, I pronounce the two the same way, MY-yah.

is how I pronounce it. I really like this name, and prefer the spelling Maia. If you like this, you might be interested to know about Naia, which, according to one source I have, is Hawaiian for dolphin. Naia was one of the rare names on both my and my husband's lists last time - but we had Gideon Brody instead. :)
