The palace ward has begun a romance with the daughter of the captain of the guard, and the palace is delighted by the happy young couple. Growing up around the royal family has provided Edmund with great opportunity, and Alaia is a very good match for his station. Meanwhile, Theodora and Leander welcome a royal son, now next in the line for the kingdom. The people - and the council - are pleased to have the line so continued. The council is also pleased to not have to squabble over succession again with a male heir, though with the precedent set it's unlikely they'd get their way anyway. Beatrice was worried her eldest daughter might have troubles as she did with her first birth, but mother and child are doing well.
