What is your favorite nickname for Margaret?
And for Elizabeth?
Please pick just one designated favorite, although if you want to add "also likes" that's fine.

Meg and Beth
Greta is decent, too... but I don't even like the name Margaret, top be honest. I know it's a classic name that will always be taken seriously, but for some reason it sounds cold and harsh to me. Even with the nickname Meg, I'd more likely use it as a nickname for Meghan (Welsh form of Margaret).
I do like Marguerite, though. The switch in syllable emphasis does a lot. (Margot / Margaux is nice, too.)

FOR MARGARET:
Greta, hands down. It's so lively.
I do like Maret and Maggie too, but I can't seem to find anything appealing in Marge or Margie.
FOR ELIZABETH:
This is harder. I have to say that the simple Beth is probably my favorite, but I have a soft spot for the unique choices like Etta, Bette, Tibby, Buffy, Zizi and Bee. In reality, I would be more likely to choose something like Zizi or Etta for my own child, even though I like the look and sound of Beth the best in general.
FOR MARGARET:
Greta, hands down. It's so lively.

I also like Meg and Maggie. If Llewella reads this- her Meg has made me like the nickname Meg. I was neutral on it until I saw it associated with such a gorgeous kid!

I also like Betsy a whole lot. I would probably pick between Bess and Betsy if I had my own Elizabeth but would be hoping Bess suited her! I like Lizzie too.

I guess Margot, but if I was going to use that at all I'd just name her Margot; it stands on its own and using it as a nn seems very pretentious and show-off.
