Would it be ok for a feminist to use the name Charlotte despite the meaning "free man".

It would be ok for a feminist to use whatever dang name she likes!
Sure, why not?
I'm a Charlotte and I'm a feminist. So yeah, very doable. If that helps anything getting this info from someone in the knows? ;)

It does thanks
You're welcome. :)
Yes.
Also it just means "man" it doesn't have anything about freedom in it.

I don't see why not. Man can mean human being, not just a male, depending on the usage. Also, what if the name was being used in honor of someone important in the namers' lives? Would you tell them not to name a daughter after Grandma Charlotte Lastname, even though she was the strongest person they knew?
Actually, Carl/Charles/Charlotte actually does mean male. Not like Alex that means Mankind. But like, it doesn't matter IMO...
Most people don't know or care about name meanings anymore, I didn't know that that was Charlotte's meaning. I'd be more worried about the popularity than the meaning. But if it really worries you, don't use it. If it doesn't worry you and you don't care about the popularity, go for it.
I don't see why not. For a lot of female names you'll see that they are feminine versions of male names. In this case the meaning was originally for the name Charles, so I'd take the meaning as being "free person". As the male name was probably in use first of course the meaning is going to use the term "man".
Personally I think being turned off a name for the word "man" in the meaning is a bit silly when it means the same thing when you replace it with the word "woman" or "person".

It would not be okay, but not because of the meaning, but because Charlotte is a dumpy name and besides it's overused.
You have narrow and very poor, outdated non-classic taste.
And furthermore...
I'm calling you on your childish BS. Find and post ten opinions of mine that prove my taste is "narrow", "outdated", and "non-classic." But I'm sure that's too much effort. You'd rather just vent your spleen, no matter how untruthful it is, because your feelings are hurt about what I said about your "Name 15 boys and 32 girls for the 437th time" posts.

someone got his panties in a wad because someone else dared to hate a name he likes!
