[Opinions] Different pronunciation of the name Aiden?
So about 2 years ago I was watching someone play a game where one of the characters was named Aiden. I was never really that familiar with the name but I was familiar with its other spelling (Aidan, pronounced AY-den) so I assumed it was pronounced like that. But when the name was first spoken they pronounced it EYE-den. I instantly fell in love with that pronunciation of Aiden, but my question is has anyone else heard this pronunciation of the name? If so, do you like it? What gender do you think it goes best with? (I'm just curious)

I would never pronounce Aiden as EYE-den, ever. It's AY-den to me.

If pronounced eye-din, I'd use a different spelling.

Never heard that pronunciation and, sorry, but I don't like it. I have seen Aiden on both boys and girls, and am not really sure which I prefer. For preservations sake though, I would recommend boy.

I'm wondering if the game isn't Japanese and that's not a transliteration of a Japanese name as "AI" would make the eye sound in their alphabet.I've always heard AY-den and honestly prefer it. Either pronunciation is best on a boy in my opinion.

AY-den is definitely the most common pronunciation for either of those spellings. I haven't met an Aiden that pronounced it EYE-den. even the original Irish, Aodhan, is pronounced AY-den.With the extreme popularity of Aiden and all it's variants, if you wanted to pronounce it differently than AY-dan, I'd spell the first syllable differently to avoid headache, unless there is a family reason to keep the spelling (ie honoring an ancestor).Eiden is kinda cool. I couldn't find a real name that was pronounced EYE-den. Just AY-den and EE-den.

I'm gonna show how much of a dork I am and say that the game in question was 'Beyond Two Souls".I'm OK with that pronunciation, but I just think Eden is so much better than any form of Aiden. But it is nice, better than the "AY" sound, which sometimes comes across as nasal. Definitely for a boy.

That's an interesting pronunciation, I've only ever heard Aiden pronounced AY-Den, but I thing I actually rather like the EYE-Den, pronunciation. In my opinion it would probably go best with a boy, rather than a girl.
