Sure, it's usable. Millie is simpering and UGH, but maybe Mildy/Mildie sounds a little better? IDK, I can never think of a good NN for Mildred. :P

My grandmother had a friend named Mildred who went by Minnie.
I remember seeing on TV years ago that Timothy McVeigh's mother was Mildred but she went by Mickey.
