Lucy needs no additions! It's a name in its own right, and one I thought I'd use for my daughter, only she surprised me by looking less like a Lucy than I'd have believed possible. But, I had a cat once who "had to be" given an L name so I chose Lucinda and called her Cindy; make of that what you will. Lucille seems very whiney to me, also beige and drab, but there's always Lucilla.

Lucinda would make a very nice middle name, or a first name if she were called Cindy.
Lucille makes a good middle name, but not a first IMO.
I think I'd turn to Luciana, if I had to have a Luc- middle name.

Lucy is a lovely name! I'd use it as a nickname for Lucasta or Lusine.

Lucy is my dog's name. I'm not sure if I like it for a person though.

I love the name Lucy. I'm not that fond of Lucille, however. Lucy can be a nickname for Lucille, but doesn't have to be. It is a name in its own right. I'm usually a stickler for using the exact name to honor, but I do think I'd make an exception for Lucy honoring a Lucille.

Lucy is great. It makes a lot of sense that it's shot up in popularity. It is slightly cutesy for my tastes, which is probably why I've never really considered it myself. I don't think I've ever met a Lucy, now that I think about it.

I watched The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe the other day, and I forgot how just natural the name sounds. They also called her "Lu" a lot which was wonderful, and much better than "Luce" IMO.

I love that you want to honor your mother-in-law, when so many tend to vilify that relation! I think Lucy on its own is the best option of the three. Lucinda is nice but I'd actually prefer that without a nickname. With Lucy, I'd keep it simple.

I LOVE Lucy! It's one of my fave names and has been for years. It's quite popular here in Australia though unfortunately. I would just use Lucy, that's my fave version of the name.

I LOVE the name Lucy and it doesn't bother me if its too nicknamey. If I had to use a "full" name, it would be Lucille. Lucinda to me is one of those names I find dated & ugly. So all in all, Lucy is a great name. I too have even considered it for a future daughter; probably best as a middle name because lord knows my dad would make a bunch of I Love Lucy associations. (great show but still) and why wouldn't it be unlikely for you to have a daughter? I mean, the gender of a child is always 50\50. (I say that despite the fact that everyone already has that basic knowledge)

It's sweet and plucky imo. I associate it with Lucy Pevensie and the color yellow.

I like Lucy. It's such a sunny flapper-like name. It also has a bit of a gothic flair because of its use in Dracula. But it's such a cute name that it's not mopey-gothic. It's sharp.

I'm on team Lucinda too. Lucille is ok, in fact I could see it becoming hip again, it's got that early 20th century feel to it, but Lucinda is more fun. Lucine is also a fave of mine.
