[Opinions] Ollie
What do you think of the nickname Ollie for a girl? Besides Olivia, what names do you think Ollie could be a nickname for? Would it work for Ophelia?

I think Ollie is a fine nickname for a girl, I would love to use it as a nickname for Olivia myself. Ollie was my great grandmothers name, I don't know if it was her full name or a nickname, but I heard that her full name might have been Althea (not sure of the spelling). It would work as a nickname for any name beginning with Ol, or possibly Althea, Alethea is the al is pronounced like all. It doesn't work for Ophelia though.

Hi !!!I don't like the nn Ollie.First of all I think it is childish.Second: I love the name Holly so I don't like at all a name such Ollie with a similar pronounce but so different. However full names for Ollie are Olympia, Olga and Olena.Because for Olivia I prefer Liv and for Ophelia I prefer others.Byeee

I know a woman in her seventies whose real name is Ollie. Her nickname is Cricket. Her husband is either Robert or Charles, I forget which, but he is nicknamed Tick. Sounds like a bug farm.
Anyway, I think Ollie is babyish and goofy as a nn for either sex. It's like Charlie or Sam on a girl, mildly cute on a little kid, but self-consciously tomboyish on an older girl or a grown woman.

I don't really like boys nicknames for girls, but Ollie is otherwise unoffensive. My second first name is Olivia after my grandfather Ollie. I think it could work for Ophelia, although I am not fond of Ophelia. Ollie could also be a nickname for:
Apollonia
Colleen
Polina
Olena
Olive
Olivera
Olwen
Olympia

Sorry, but I find Ollie to be too masculine to use on a girl.

I think it's an ok name for a girl with an Ol- name but people will expect it on a boy over a girl but it's your choice. I don't think it would work with Ophelia, no link in my mind to them
