What about using Miriam instead of Mary? That way it still honours your grandmother, but it isn't using Hilda, if she hates it that much!!
Personally I don't like Winifred or Theodora, but Daphne is great, don't give up on Daphne! Daphne Miriam Arnold would be lovely.
