[Opinions] Re: Top Ten for February
in reply to a message by Rachel Shaina
Last time I did this was July 2011, so I'm going to compare my lists a bit.
For February 2016 (*=might use on a child one day)
Aina*
Maria*
Kaarina*
Viktoria
Kastehelmi* (as a middle name)
Marjatta* (as a middle name)
Elsa*
Innogen
Lucia
Alma*
Mikael*
Kaarlo*
Akseli*
Vilho*
Jack
Theo
Gideon
Rodolf
Adolphe
Andor
Boys were hard! I like a lot of names, but trying to make a top list of them wasn't easy at all...
In July 2011, I liked Adalmiina "Ada", Adolfiina, Aina, Amalia "Alma", Beata,
Cecilia, Leonor, Lucia, Maria & Valeria for girls. Almost five years later and Aina, Alma, Lucia and Maria are still on the list - and I still like all these other names as well. I had almost forgotten Valeria though. Such a sweet name.
For boys I liked Kaarlo, Malakai, Mihangel, Mikael "Misha", Perceval, Rodolphe, Runo, Umberto & Valentin / Valentino. Mikael and Kaarlo are still on the list, and Rodolf as a variant of Rodolphe. I still adore Perceval and both Valentin and Valentino. I'm not at all sure about Runo and Umberto anymore. And I wouldn't use Misha as a nickname for Mikael - I wouldn't use any nicknames for Mikael, if possible.
This was fun! It was nice to see how some favourites have really stuck with me all these years. It would be interesting to compare even more of my top 10 lists and see which names keep changing and which ones don't.
