It's actually probably not related to the word myrrh or even mirth. It's just the Dutch word for Myrtle (which I also find quite charming).

Yeah, that's how I've heard Welsh people pronounce it. I'd personally pronounce it with a real hard F instead of a V, but I think the V is charming as well.
