Deborah is very dated and rather boring to me. Maya is alright, though I always wish I could pronounce it MAY-uh, because I find that nicer. Rani is not Hebrew, it is an Indian name.

I think Maya is pronounced MAY-AH/UH in Hebrew...Rani is also a Hebrew name, it has a different linguistic root so they aren't technically the same name. I found that the Indian version and the Hebrew version is on this site (I knew it was a Hebrew name but never knew that another language used a similar name which is cool)

Oh yes, there is a Hebrew Rani, true.

Like I said I heard of the Hebrew one before the Indian one :P

I'm not a fan of Deborah.
I really like Maya. There is something so compelling about the simplicity of it.
How is Rani pronounced?

Two surprises out of three! I never knew that Maya and Rani could be Hebrew.Which means that all my associations are wrong. Oh well: I like Maya, always pronounce it MYa, and would like to meet many more. But I don't enjoy Mia at all.Rani yeah, wrong associations again. I always try to picture an elegant lady in a colourful silk sari, but instead I always see an elephant, with eye makeup, in a parade.I like Deborah a lot. And I'd like it even more than that - enough to actually use - if only people wouldn't spell it Debra (I always look around for de tights, de camisole and de rest of de undies) and/or shorten it to Debby or Debs.

I think in Hebrew Maya is pronounced MAY-AH but can't be 100% sure. I'm not a fan of Mia myself.Lol, interesting associations with Rani! It's amazing how cross cultural some names can appear (even if they have different linguistic roots)Ooh, I don't like the Debra spelling either. And lol, like your sense of humour. I don't mind the nickname Debbie, I like it.

Deborah - I know several Deborahs who are 50-65, so it seems dated to me; however, I don't dislike itMaya - it's pretty; reminds me of Maya AngelouRani - I don't have much of an opinion about it
