My cousin is Katherine Teresa. We call her Katie, and her initials are KT. When she was younger she would sign things KT instead of Katie. However, Katie is short for Katherine anyway so it's a bit different.
I personally wouldn't do it because people who only know their first name (90% of people) will be confused by it. Imagine the conversation
"My name's Julian but everyone calls me Jon"
"Oh why is that, Jon isn't short for Julian is it?"
"No, but my middle names are Oliver Nathan so it stands for Jon"
It would be weird in my opinion.
Meta works fine as a nickname for Margareta without the acronym thing.
