I dislike it. It just sound bad to me. I don't like the "had" part and "ley" always come off as cutesy. I think of it more as a girl's name, but don't like it for either.

It sounds like a hillbilly name.

I agree - it's just not good. Sounds like a tag: Had Ley, Would Travel. That said, given enough sons I'd use Hedley as a mn, using the ln of a deceased friend.

I like Hailey much better.

I don't like it either, and it's only in small part because it's a phonebook surname name among legions of same.I think almost all my dislike for it traces to the word "HAD" in it.
Had = past tense, suggests passive voice. And possessed, as an object.
Seems negating, to be Had.
If it were Hatley, I might feel sort of indulgent towards it, because it has a kewt-like sound. But it's not, it doesn't, and it sounds morose and scrubby.

I like it. Girl, boy, doesn't matter to me.

I like it for a female but I don't know how well it would age...I don't think I like it for a male.

I like a lot of -ley names, and I kind of like Hadley. I prefer Marley and Ainslie though.

I dislike it for either gender. I much prefer Hayden for a boy or a girl.

I don't like it. -ley is not my favorite suffix and Had is not an appealing start. I've only heard it for girls, but I don't like it any better for a boy.

No, not really, I think I would prefer something like Hedy instead!
