Help[Games] Compromise Game
I figured I repost this as I recall it being fairly popular.
There was a thread on the Name Opinions Message Board a little while ago where two players went back and forth with their favorite names to eventually compromise on a name they would name a child in real life. It was quite popular, and I've been thinking about introducing it to this board. I've changed it up a bit in order to create actual families.
A relationship is all about compromise, so post your ideal family—amount of children plus favorite names you would use in real life—and prepare to compromise with another player.
In terms of number of children, either find a middle ground that pleases opposing preferences or maybe you're lucky and both "parents" want the same amount. Or the amount of children could be so unsolvable that your fictional relationship ends in a messy divorce! For gender, either choose or flip a coin (https://www.random.org/coins/?num=1&cur=60-usd.0010c)—heads for a boy, tails for a girl.
In real life, the parents would have to call their children by their given names for their whole lives, so both "parents" in this game must at least like the names. Be ruthless in vetoing your partners names, just as you would in real life. You post names, your partner keeps some, vetoes some, and proposes new names. You do the same thing, and it goes back and forth until you feel there are enough names to create your family. Create combos, and name those fictional children!

I feel like I might have played this with you a year ago (not sure) but I'm not going to look up if we did until after just to see how different the combos end up if so.

Holly is my cat's name, so I like it but would feel weird using it on a person! (My other one is named Thomas actually, I just have enough other associations with that name that it's not unusable to me.) I don't really like the idea of naming my kid after me so I have to nix Ariana from the Real Person discussion too.
I quite like Ivy.
Anastasia "Annie" works for me, too. I had a classmate named Tasia and found it cool. Star's a cute family nn too.
I spent like 30 minutes one time thinking about the fact that I think Sarah would make a cool MN (I know a zillion people with it as a FN) but that it's hard to find something that flows with it. But if we did that'd be cool.
I also really like Zoe for a MN for some reason, paired with long, frilly-ish things.
For some reason Aurora "Rory" has grown on me even though I nixed that on myth's list.
I like Rosemary but not Romy.

I like those new combos as well. For some reason I'm starting to associate Ivy with IV and that's kind of turning me off the name and, therefor, the combo Aurora Ivy. Would you be okay sticking with Aurora Emmeline? I can't think of any other Aurora combos at the moment but I'd be open to others as well. As for Rosemary, I like Rosemary Sylvia or Rosemary Viola the best of our options. Thea, for me, isn't a great middle name. Although I slightly prefer Viola as the middle name, Sylvia was much more agreed upon so I'll put that in the sibset here.

Basically I'm really excited about the fact that I found someone else that likes the name Lysander, so even though I like both of your Evander combos, using both seems too matchy. I like all 3 of those combos about the same and for different reasons, so I'm more interested in your input there. If I were to give a #1 to anything, it'd probably be getting to use a Lysander combo.
I like the name Rowan quite a bit but don't feel as good about the combos for it, and I like Callum Orion but both together are a bit GP-y.
Adrian Lewis, Cormac Thomas, Cedric Rhys, and Hugo Dominic are all nice. Raphael Sylvan is more out there but seems super cool to me.
I would like to also suggest Alice Freya.
My favorite girls combos are Ivy Cressida, Fiona Sybil, Gwen Isobel, and Freya Rosemary.

Raphael Andreas felt too German to me in combination haha. I liked how it sounded but it didn't fit with the other names so well for me. I agree that our boys taste is much more similar and we got lucky with the coin flip.

I agree that Sybil and Sylvan are quite similar and it makes sense to try and find a better combination for Fiona. I don't mind any of those combos. They flow pretty well and are unique in their own way. I think in order I like:
Fiona Gwendolyn (I'm not usually in to matching names, but connecting all the middles with a y seems neat.)
Fiona Alice (I've never heard of Fiona Apple...)

Fiona Apple's a singer-songwriter. It's just the Fiona A that makes me think of that.
I'm happy with Lysander Rhys, Raphael Sylvan, and Fiona Gwendolyn. It's been fun!
The Compromise Game actually migrated over to Name Games when it was brought up on Ops initially and I've ran two Congrats games kinda based on it. I'm now thinking of doing a third since it's been a few months. :)
