[Opinions] Celeb BA
I don't think anyone has posted this yet, if they did I'm sorry.Alanis Morissette had a second daughter June 23rd. Her name is Onyx Solace. Baby sister to older brother Ever Irme. What do you think? I think it's a bit...much?

Celebs are a bit crazy with there children's names. Gwen Stefano has a son named Zuma.

Zuma is one of the names of Bob Marley. I thought it was unusual until I heard it had history.

Gee, she has a real knack for putting together clunky combos. Ever Irme stutters, and Onyx Solace runs together. Ever & Onyx sound gothy. I think they can be lived with, although I don't like them.I think Solace is not a good concept for a name at all. It implies a context of luckless unhappiness. Sounds like a name someone who chronically felt sorry for herself would use for her child. It reminds me of the idea of consolation, like a consolation prize. I can't make myself think it's cool.

I don't know. I kind of see solace as peace, zen.

Okay, maybe Alanis does too. But nobody says they got solace, if they were in pleasant circumstances. It is related to the word console, and has a connotation of relief from grief. I think it's dark, and I think paired with Onyx it's try-hard-to-be-dark.

Yah, I get that.

Well put, especially the line connotation of relief from grief. Even if she had difficulty having a second child and found solace in her child - that's a heavy burden.

Onyx is masculine to me, but I suppose not outside the realm of unisex since its a word name and in the same vain as Nyx and Lux.I don't like it, though. Solace is kind of cool in the middle name spot. I get a puritanical vibe from it and it makes me think of peace.

Hi !!!!Congratulation !!Well...
Her children names are awful for me.-Onyx: I think sbout it only as a masculine name. It has a too aggressive sound to be feminine.
-Solace: ?? It seems a surname! Soleil is so much better than it.
-Ever: For me it is not a name.
-Irme: This is feminine! Also in Italy we have this name 'Irma'.I hate when people choose names and change their gender. Why is it trendy? It is a horrible and very kitsch thing!Byeeeeeeeeee

I don't hate Onyx Soleil.

Well, it's definitely a gemstone name that I haven't heard on a kid before. It makes me think of the Pokemon Onix.

Gotta catch 'em all, Pokemon!

I don't care much about the middle name, but I find Onyx to be a bit too masculine.

Onyx Solace sounds terrible, and since both names are actually words, they don't even make sense together. Onyx Solace? What is it, a jet-black sleeping pill?
Ever Irme is a mumble.

Well now I think it sounds like a street drug. But, like for a chic crowd. A classier drug user."Ugh after all the coke last night at Alastair's get together I just cannot sleep without some onyx solace. "

Alanis, you have terrible taste.

The names are bad enough, but Onyx Solace sounds really awkward and clunky. Solace Onyx would have at least flowed better.

Oh dear. Hippy-hey hippy-hoo. I do have a weak spot for hippy names but Onyx Solace is...too much. How do you get solace from an onyx?
Ever just sounds strange to me. Like a random adverb just thrown in. Imre I guess is honoring...isn't her father Hungarian?

I think it's Imre, not Irmenm

I think you're right. I double checked myself and still got it wrong.
