ROYCE
Ok, I know we have discussed this name in passing before.
My husband has decided he LOVES it, which is pretty unusual since his favorite thing is to hate/critique names I throw out. Rarely does HE throw out a name.
In any case, I knew he was serious because he followed up with talks of adoption, so, like, whoa..
Opinions on Royce?
Any other names with the same "feel" that I might toss at him?
(to be clear, we are not pregnant, not adopting and this is hypothetical).

It's alright. I don't hate it, but something about it seems a bit limp. It's just kind of there.
I think the sound might be a bit similar to Clarisse.
Suggestions:

Chase - possibly as a nickname for Charles

Ambivalent feeling about this name; on one hand unusual, powerful and a cool look
and the other part perhaps too clearly low-class attitude or status. (cf. Prince/Kingston)
Similar with strong feeling (?) could be Pierce, Brooks, Rhett, Fritz, Hank, Till, Truett, Oren, Quaid, Ruskin, Forrest, Rowley, Kelvin, Morris, Malcolm, Lochlan, Brioc, Ares, Wyatt, Cole, Flint, Lloyd, Korbin, Floyd, Thure, Darragh, Ward etc.

I like it a lot; I'd actually use it. It's handsome, even though it makes me think of a rich, spoiled kid.

It's okay, but only just. It's better than Roy, that's for sure.
Strangely, the only Royce I ever knew is a woman, and she's probably sixty now.

It's a name that I really, really dislike. It sounds really low-class to me, along the lines of Dwayne -- like a really ignorant, violent guy you wouldn't want to bump into in the street.
