I've only heard TAHN-ya (so rhyming with John). It's dated and sounds annoying. TAN-ya and TAWN-ya sound even more whiney and annoying, doubly awful.

ok, so THIS clears up the 'like John' pronunciation! Which struck me as very odd.
TAHN ya is how I've nearly always heard the name pronounced. But we pronounce John with a short 'o' here... and it doesn't sound anything like it. Makes sense now. Two countries divided by a common language as somebody once said :-)
