Callista has always sounded empty to me - like there was just something missing. Calixta kind of fills that space I always had a problem with. So, I guess, it's a necessary complication for me! ;)

I lean towards preferring Calista because it feels lighter to me and doesn't have the "licks" sound in it, but Calixta is still nice.

I think Calixta Fern is sharp and Colours Inez is elegant. Calixta Naomi is sweet.

I think saying it in English is a little laborious, but I can understand the appeal of the Spanish pronunciation, which is pretty; though no one would pronounce it in that manner in America. Calixta Margaret is nice.

There is a Swedish town called Kalix which is all I can think of when I hear Calixta.

I really love Calixta. I'm always inclined to pronounce it "ka-LIKS-ta", even though I think it is traditionally "ka-LEESH-ta" considering it's Spanish and Portuguese.
