[Opinions] Re: Mercy and Amity
in reply to a message by Perrine
I love Mercy. It sounds like the name of a badass gunslinger girl from the old west lol. Amity mostly just makes me think of Jaws, but I still like it. I think Puritan-ish names like these can be fun and are totally usable, they're not particularly feminine but they're not boyish either so it's a nice balance. :)

This is so weird... Just yesterday I was thinking of cat names (I might adopt 2 cats) and I thought of Mercy and Amity as a pair. What a coincidence!
I know they share kind of a creepy vibe, but I kind of like that about them. There's nothing ACTUALLY creepy about the names - it's just that ''mercy'' is a bit intense, ''amity'' has the Amityville association, and there's something just generally kind of creepy about the pilgrim puritans, don't you think? There was a movie last year called ''The Witch'' - a horror movie set in pilgrim times. One of the characters (a young girl) was called Mercy, with siblings Thomasin (female) and Jonas.
