[Opinions] Philip, Royce, and James
WDYT of these three names? Which is your favorite? Which would you choose for a son if these were your ONLY options? "And by the way, dearie, your punctuation sucks canal water!"

I like James the best, but I might well choose Philip because there are so many James people already.I'd avoid Royce like the plague, though I find Roy pleasantly Scottish and energetic.

James! The other two are too pretentious sounding for my taste!

Philip and James both seem very intelligent and gentlemanly to me.
Royce is intriguing because it is quite uncommon, but it seems a little redneck to me.
I would definitely pick Philip from these options. I don't mind James, I just don't find it very interesting as it has bene so popular for such a long time. I'm just not usually a classics kind of person.

I'd easily choose James. Royce doesn't really sound as a name to me and I dislike the name. Philip/Filip is boring since it's so darn common here and has been for about 25 years now. So yeah, James. I love the feel and image I get from the name, and Jamie as a nickname.

James, definitely; that's no hardship.
Phillip with two l's is my husband's name and I always did like it. For some reason I never really liked the one-l spelling, though I suppose it really doesn't matter.Royce doesn't sound so good. Strangely, the only Royce I ever knew in person is a woman who must be near sixty by now.

I've never met or even heard of anyone called Royce, although Roy was fairly common here at one point and I once worked with a Royston.
Philip is good, sturdy & simple & not too popular atm, & James is the uber-classic name that never seems to be out of use. They're both nice names, but I think I'd go with Philip because there are too many Jameses and Jims and Jimmys in my family already.

I like them all, kind of. I'd pick Royce. If my cousin didn't have a one year old named Phillip, I might've picked that.

Philip is classic and I dare to say timeless. I know Philips of all ages and it fits each one perfectly. It reminds me mainly of Phil Dunphy from Modern Family, Lip from Shameless, and Philip Hamilton. I do prefer the spelling Phillip. I probably wouldn't use Philip for my own child. Royce sounds very upperclass to me. I imagine a wealthy, youngish guy living in New York in the 1920s. It might just be the association with the car, though. I probably wouldn't use it myself. James is so common it's hard for me to have an organized opinion on it. There are so many Jameses and they're all so different. I think the nickname Jamie is precious, though. Out of the three names provided, I would likely choose James for my own son.

Royce. That is my husband's top choice for a boy anyway. I do like the handsomness of Philip though. I would probably spell it Phillip. James is nice, but does nothing for me.
