Not sure why, but I associate Victor with Vincent; they both have a slightly dated Mid-Atlantic vibe to me, or they sound like mobsters...
It's an okay name, though. I prefer it spelled with a K (Viktor), because that way it looks more like a name, less like a word.

I have always liked this name. Vetoed immediately off our list by my husband who thinks it is full of pressure.
He thinks it's perfect for "Not a victor, hunh Victor?" type teasing.
I fully disagree, but whatever.
Vic is also my preferred nickname.
Yeah, it has a slight mobster quality to it, but that just makes it cooler. Besides, Vince (Vincent/Vincenzo) is far more mob-y and not as cool as Victor/Vic.

Victor is okay, but only just okay; there's a vaguely creepy vibe to it. Vic sounds downright scary, like a mobster with some descriptor after his name, like Vic the Slasher or Vic the Strangler.
