I can think of many names that attract nicer nns than Lav or Lavvie. And it's a long name, so it'll attract nns.

I like it a lot but there is the risk of it being shortened to Lav, which is often used (in the UK at least) as a short form of lavatory. For that reason I prefer it as a middle name.

For a er name it sounds more femining and less like a occupation.

Lily or Violet are much more overused but nice and Heather is dated.

I like Lavender it is a nice alternative to the other flower names, but is still not to different, so it would work nicely for a girl, I wouldn't use it, as there are other flower names I like more but Lavender is a nice name

I like Lavender. It just sounds like a standard flower name to me, not any different than Lily, Violet, etc. The ending isn't really unexpected since it's a word name.

I like the color, love the scent, but think that as a name it's gross.
Also gross is the HP character's name being Lavender Brown. Yuck, what a pukey kind of color mashup. At least something like Amber Gold or Ruby Rose has an attractive visual image.

Yep, definitely. I love Lavender, and the literary connection with Harry Potter and Matilda. Lovey, fresh, floral name with lots going for it.
