Hickory Dickory DockHickory makes me think of the tree and the old nursery rhyme. It probably best to avoid Hickory in the first name position because everybody in his nursery would be familiar with the rhyme. It might work in the middle name position. Hickory makes me think of a kind elderly man who likes pottering around in his garden.

Hickory reminds me of grilled meat and of the word "hick". Not a good name.

No
Unless you find the idea of your child constantly teased and called 'Hick' appealing
But no, still no, no one should be allowed to do that to an innocent child

A hick is not a nice association, and I imagine you'd get that a lot if your name were Hickory. Hickory is not a good name.

I wouldn't think it would be a good name, but I went to school with a girl who had an older sister named Hickory and I always thought it was really cool. It seems hip and upbeat. I don't think there are any good nickname options.I'd like to play up the sort of feel I have attached to it.
Hickory Jennifer
Hickory Allison
Hickory Elizabeth - simple, but love it
Hickory Gretchen - ooh love too

There's a lot easier ways to use the nn Cory, the best of which is just using the name Cory.Seriously, Hickory is not a good name. As for nns, would you like to be called Hick (redneck) or Hickey (sucker bite)?
