[Opinions] WDYTO Sierra?
I asked my husband to just think of the first girl's name that came to mind that he likes or loves and then after thinking for a moment he said Sierra. What do you think of this name? Give me all your impressions whether good or bad.

I'm not crazy about it. It sounds kind of prissy and I don't like the meaning. On the other hand, I think of Sierra Boggess playing such a gorgeous Christine Daaé in the 25th anniversary version of The Phantom of the Opera, so it's not only negative...
(BTW, her sisters are apparently named Summer and Allegra!)

I like Sierra. It totally makes me think of the Sierra Nevada, where I'd go camping when I lived in California... big mountains, beautiful pine forest and meadows.I do think it's a bit dated now - not so dated that it sticks out. About as dated as Taylor or Sydney. It bothers me slightly that its meaning refers to the jagged shape of mountains. I wonder how it seems to a Spanish speaker. I guess it is about like Ridge, only fem.I can't explain why, but I have always felt that it is very slightly "downmarket" (as they say - I don't agree with the connotations of that term, but I imagine it does communicate the idea, better than if I described it in terms that appeal to me). It's like Jasmine or Brianna. That would not stop me from using it, but it's an impression worth noting. All those things together, and for me it's a GP. Like to see it, probably wouldn't use it. Suggest Sienna.Keira is a little more current but also a little more trendy. It also seems barely halfway between tacky and pretentious - which is a good level to be at, imo. I prefer the spelling Kira. I think it seems less trendy and more timeless. I like Kira a lot, maybe not enough to use it because of spelling issues; and Keira is okay, though it also has spelling issues (Ciara, Kira, Kiera, Kyra etc).

It's very 90s dated. Back then it was trendy but now it feels old. Not as old as Tiffany or Stacy but definitely dated to a more recent time period. I also dislike the sound and how you can spell it a million ways if you want to. I have seen Siera, Cierra, Ciara (I know this is also an Irish name pr. KEE-ra but she pronounced it like Sierra). At the time Kierra (Kiara etc.) were also sort of common so the sound is boring to me as well.I much prefer the similar Sienna (only problem, it makes me think of the actress) and Siena (makes me think of the lovely city).

Sierra is a lovely name! It rolls off the tongue nicely, and it makes me think of a flowing stream.

I prefer the Ciara spelling, since Sierra reminds me of the rip off Mountain Dew brand, Sierra Mist! I like Sienna though! I like Kira as well, spelled both Kira and Kyra!

Hi !!!Sierra?
I like its meaning.
Nature-names are my favourite theme together with Mythology.
But...I strongly dislike the sound!
It seems cruel and rough...
Maybe it is because of "rr" sound or because in Italian it is similar to "siero" (serum) that reminds me syringes (I'm afraid with them also when I do vaccines and blood samples).Keira?
I prefer Kira.
It is sweet and more simple.
But generally it is a good name!Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I didn't want to include this under the main question because it isn't important to the question but I also know that he also likes the girl's name Keira. He will tell me which names that I like that he hates but never which names that I like that he also likes, which is annoying. He wants us to wait until we are pregnant to truly discuss names but I've been waiting more than 12 years to discuss names with him and it drives me a little crazy. It has been on my mind a lot lately because we keep discussing children ever since he turned 30 in November.
