Jocelyn would be my choice for a mn. As a fn, in my experience it always shortens to Jossie or Joss, which I couldn't live with. Rosalind is pleasant enough; I've got personal associations with it that aren't too encouraging, but of course one's own child would come complete with her own associations!Roberta. Josepha is just too out there. I mind Josephine much less. But I think I'd shorten Roberta to Robin.Yvette. Nicer than Yvonne. Lenore is just mangled. Eleanor or Elinor would be lovely. To my mind, the only hope of improving Abigail is to use Gail. With that spelling, of course. Gale is too weather-forecast, and Gayle is the ln of a West Indian cricketer who is dazzlingly talented and spectacularly, piratically dishy but that's no reason to use his ln as a female (or any) fn.I knew a Suzanne Edwina whose mn honoured an Edward. I really can't see the Edwarda or Eduarda versions working in an Anglophone environment, but maybe as mns they might.

Rosalind vs. Jocelyn - I love both but Rosalind is my favorite.Roberta vs. Josepha - Roberta is my favorite of the two but my absolute favorite is Josephine.Lenore vs. Yvette - Lenore is my favorite. I also like Lenora which I prefer. Yvette is okay. It reminds me too much of Corvette.Gail vs. Gale vs. Gayle - I like all of the spellings but Gale is my favorite but only because it is nature related. Gail feels the most like a name and Gayle seems a bit like a surname. As far as my feelings about Gail in general it is just okay. It is such a dated name and it was the name of my annoying middle school core teacher who was young and still acted like a teenager herself. She actually would gossip in class with the girls who were also in her soccer team. They only sucked up to her so they could get away with things. They would brag about it when she wasn't around. She would tease me along with them. Other students who played pranks would be in trouble but those girls could get away with it and Gail would laugh along with them. I probably should have filed a complaint with the principal or something but it never crossed my mind.BONUS: Do you find Edwarda / Eduarda usable? Any other female options to honor an Edward?Edwarda/ Eduarda is an okay name. I prefer Edwina but that honors Edwin. As far as spelling I prefer Eduarda.

I prefer Rosalind. It makes me think of roses, obviously, which I love. Jocelyn always seemed so unattractive to me. It is so harsh and bland. Now it also feels a bit 90s dated. And Rose or Rosie are so much nicer than Joss or Lynn.I prefer Roberta. Bertie is kind of cute. I dislike Josepha and Josie.Lenore. Yvette is just too prissy. Gale looks the nicest to me.It is usable but it isn't pretty. Maybe Edith could work? I like Edith.

I plan to use Edith as part of a middle to honor my grandmother, Edna (there's an Ed-- name for you, OP), who was named for her father, Edward.

Rosalind for sure! I love that name already, it's so magical.Roberta, actually? I'm surprised at myself for saying that, too. But I love Roberta's loud red energy, and the fun, punchy nickname options of Bobbie, Ruby, Robbie, Bertie, etc. Josepha is nice but I just really really enjoy Roberta's flair.Lenore, no question. So elegant and spooooky :)I am not a fan of the name Gail in any spelling, so that's a tough one. Gayle is visually interesting, with the y in there; I'll pick that one.To honour an Edward, I'd pick Edwina probably...even though it's not "the same name". I like Edwina a lot and I'd be happy to use old great uncle Edward or whoever as an excuse to use it. Or maybe Edie. I do find Eduarda usable.... and I guess by extension Edwarda works too. And it's actually growing on me the more I look at it. Edwarda. It's a bit awkward sounding though.

Rosalind vs. Jocelyn - Rosalind. I don't mind Jocelyn but Rosalind seems more classic, more friendly and doesn't sound like jostlingRoberta vs. Josepha - Roberta, because I prefer the sound of itLenore vs. Yvette - Yvette, because Lenor is a fabric conditioner hereGail vs. Gale vs. Gayle - Gail. It's dated, but neat and cheerful. Gayle seems overly complicated, Gale is a stormBONUS: Do you find Edwarda / Eduarda usable? Any other female options to honor an Edward?
Eduarda seems more usable than Edwarda, because its pronunciation is more obvious from the male forms. Edwarda might get pronounced Edward-uh or ed WARD uh. Edda is nicer, imo - or any female Ed-name would work: Edina, Edana, Edwina

Rosalind: Love the vintage vibe I get from it and, as a hopeful biochemist, possibly geneticist, the Rosalind Franklin association is really important for me. I would really like to find a way of fitting Rosalind as a middle somewhere for that reason. I think it's a strong name and not too saccharine like some other Ros- names.Roberta: I was really into Roberta at one point, because of The Railway Children. I still like it and have it on my list, and I particularly enjoy the meaning. It feels more natural to me to say than Josepha too. Lenore: I just prefer the sound and imagery I get from it. Gale: Gail's equally okay too, I don't really have a spelling preference, but Gayle seems like a bit much, unless it's an honour name and/or in the middle. I think Eduarda's usable. It flows well as a feminisation of Eduardo, and doesn't sound forced. Edward makes me think Ed, then Ted/Teddy, so maybe Theodora? Or Edwina.

Jocelyn - Rosalind is pretty, but I'd do Rosalinda or Rosalyn. Jocelyn is a name I always liked, I like J names ending in 'lyn', (ex: Jaclyn, Jocelyn, Joellyn) Josepha - Hard one, I love Roberta. Josepha is extremely pretty and I like it better than Josephine. Josepha has that flow to it that I love! Yvette - Lenore seems too plain for me. Eleanor is pretty, that was my great-grandmother's name. Yvette is not too common either. Gayle - After one of my favorite singers Crystal Gayle.
