[Opinions] Moana
Do you think the Disney movie will make this popular? It does have a nice meaning, cute sound and Mo is kind of cute as a nickname. Opinions on Moana please :)

In New Zealand/Pacific islands? Yes I think it'll probably climb the ranks a bit. It's not an uncommon name here already. Not sure about anywhere else though

I don't think it would get too popular. I think it is too ethnic sounding to be mainstream.

I prefer TamatoaMoana is nice, but I think Tamatoa will rise up in the ranks.

I don't see it making a huge splash. I do really like Mo as a nickname for a female, though. I think Imogen nn Mo is cute. However, I'm marrying a Mohammad nn Mo, so that's kind of off the table. :P

Not a fan. It looks like a variant of Mona.

I think Moana has a nice sound if you pronounce it mo-AH-nah, but yes, the fact that it starts with "moan" may keep people from using it.
In Sweden and many other countries in Europe Moana's name is changed to Vaiana. Apparently it's because perfume manufacturer House Margot has registrated the brand "Moana Bouquet" around Europe. It may also be because Moana Pozzi is an Italian porn star...
(In Italy the movie is called Oceania.)

I just can't get past the similarity to "moan".

I think it will just as Jasmine became popular after Aladdin, but it looks like moan, which is a problem as people tend to associate moan with sex or pain.
