I love
Vanessa and the nn's
Ness,
Nessa, and Nessie.
Vanessa and
Veronica are old favorites of mine.
Vanessa feels both studious and sexy. I always imagine a
Vanessa being a strong independent woman. I usually imagine a woman with chestnut brown hair, olive skin, and rich brown eyes framed by long thick lashes. The personality of a
Veronica is the same to me but I imagine her her cooler dark brown hair with fairer skin and blue eyes.
For -ssa names I also love
Larissa/
Larisa and
Marissa, although I slightly prefer
Marisa - which is my name. A lot of people who I introduce myself to mishear my name as
Melissa. It is a nice name,
Melissa is just very common in my age group in the US.
Melissa feels dated as a very 1970's and 1980's name.
Vanessa on the other hand has never been popular enough to become dated.
I have always loved V names so I think it's pretty cool that my husband's surname - that I plan on sharing when I get around to it - starts with the letter V. The letter V has so much strength and life to it. It has always been one of my favorite letters.
All this thinking about
Vanessa is reminding me just how much I love it. I forgot that Nessie could be a nn for it. I was just thinking the other day how much I love nn's like
Tess,
Ness, and
Jess.
