In my neck a the woods, ZigZag was one of two popular brands of rolling papers (the other being Topps). In fact, Monsieur ZigZag (on the label) was more recognizable to people my age than was William Westmoreland (don't ask, kids).
Which is why it was rather amusing some years later when the Texas band Z.Z. Topp said in an interview that they "didn't remember" how they came up with the band's name. Uh, yuh...

Have to admit I tried 'em, too, in my high school days. But I honestly never got as satisfying a buzz from them as I did from a glass of fine wine. I was a hippy AND a Long Island Princess. ;)
