[Opinions] Re: English word names - WDYT?
Passable:
Acacia -I know someone named this. Her nickname is Casey. I like it
Amaranth
Ametrine (a type of quartz)
Aspen -I used to like this more. It's the name of a character in a YA dystopian novel
Autumn -I do like this
Belladonna -sounds nice, and could go by Bella, but the actual associations make it unusable
Beryl
Cadence -I actually like this one. Sounds a bit like Candace
Briar- Makes me think of sleeping beauty (Briar Rose)
Calypso
Canna
Cedar-I know a lot of Cedars but I don't really like it
Celandine -this is actually quite pretty
Cerulean -not awful
Bryony -not bad
Clemency -I tend to like virtue names. But I would far prefer Mercy
Dahlia- makes me think of Delila. It's okay
Daisy- I like this one
Cricket- the name of a character on the tv show Hart of Dixie, so it seems slightly less weird to me Dislike:
Adore
Alchemy
Allure- sounds like a stripper name
Amanita (a genus of mushrooms)- just no.
Amethyst
Amber -it's been commonly used in the past, but I really don't like it
Amnesty
Apple -didn't a celebrity name her daughter this?
Apprentice -terrible, especially given the current political climate
Arrow
Asphodel
Avenue
Azure
Blessing
Bliss
Blue
Bluebell
Brook
Butterfly
Calico
Candle
Celestial
Chalet
Chance
Chanterelle -again with the mushrooms
Caory
Chardonnay -I'm strongly against naming children after wine
Chateau
Cherish
Cherry
Chrysanthemum
Cinnabar
Cinnamon
Clover -sounds too much like rover
Coriander
Daffodil
Day
Defiance
Destiny -sounds like a stripper name, in my opinion
Deuce
Diamond
Dolphin
Dream
Dust -why?
