This name is growing on me because I'm seeing it so much in American media. But do you think it will be too tied to DeVos from now on? It really strikes me as (ironically) counter-culture and hip.

Ooh, I adore Betsy and would have loved to use it had it not sounded positively laughable with our surname.
I'd like to think it wouldn't be solely associated with DeVos. That would be a real shame.

Betsy is getting a little bit of love in the UK at the moment amongst exactly the group you're talking about (without the DeVos connection).
I'm not a fan of all those itsy-bitsy type nicknames and I think it's hard lines on any kid who's given one without a 'real' name to use as an adult if they so choose.
I particularly dislike Betsy which comes over as twee to me, but then I adore Betty so there's no logic...!

I don't really have any strong associations with it. Definitely go with Betsy. Betsey is like Katey or something, I just don't care for it. To be honest, I've never liked this name. I also wouldn't want to have it as a full name. Elizabeth is much nicer. It does have a retro feel and maybe it could make a comeback along with Shirley, Mary Ellen, Lorraine, Carolyn and the like but unlike all of these it is a nickname name so I'm not sure. I think nickname names were last excessively common in the late 60s/early 70s (Carrie, Tammy, Debbie) so it might take another 40-50 years for them to become stylish again, if ever at all.
If you live in the UK things might be different, I do think it could have a huge comeback there in a few years, but in the UK people are really into nickname names currently. Many that haven't become popular in the US at all are common there such as Alfie, Evie (I think this was even a top ten name), Rosie and lately Frankie. So there it might be really hip!
The only ones that even became somewhat common in recent years for girls in the US are Ellie (only cutesy nickname name in the top 50 and it's ranked #40-something, so not particularly high) and Sadie and I think that has more to do with the Ella/Eleanor/Eliana trend and a celebrity than with nickname names. Gracie had a short popularity surge (but I think that this was again not due to a nickname name trend but because it's close to common Grace and a little girl on a famous TV show was called this during the time it got common) but it seems unfashionable now and it only barely entered the top 100 for three years or so.

I think it's cute! I don't think it will be tied to DeVos, it was already too common before her. I can easily picture it on a little girl today, it fits. I've known three Betsys (well, two are Betsi) around my age. It feels bright and upbeat.
