Yes, I like it! I'd describe it as gentle, simple & friendly. I live in the US, but I've never seen it used. I think it'd be considered different, but because it's short and similar to the more common Kyle, it wouldn't be considered too weird.

1. No, I don't like the name Lyle.2. 3 adjectives - slithery, weak and vain.3. & 4. I'm not sure how it's perceived in the English-speaking world in general. I don't think it's ever been popular and I've never known any personally so I don't have any associations.

I was at school with a girl named Lisle, same pronunciation, who was a pretty good golfer. So that's got something of a healthy outdoor exercise vibe for me; but it was also the name of the textile that 19th century schoolgirls' long black stockings were made of, which is pretty unattractive, frankly.Lyle ... I connect it with Tate & Lyle, a company that makes sugar, treacle and golden syrup! Adjectives ... sticky, unhealthy, unattractive.

I really don't like Lyle. For personal reasons I find it a little sad and maybe even tragic. I knew a family with two beautiful small children. The wife died suddenly. The father, Lyle, opened a bowling alley with the insurance money. We went a little crazy, made poor choices and ignored his kids. Ultimately, he was broke and tried to burn the bowling alley down and now is in prison. He was such a great guy but I think his wife's death just kind of broke him.

Lyle, Lyle, crocodile. That's really what springs to my mind first. I can't remember if it was a kids' song or a book.Lyle was never really what you'd call popular here in the US, and it wasn't really all that uncommon either. My SIL used to have a boyfriend named Lyle; he was very nice.Amy is so dull that it seems tailor-made for Lynn or Lee as a middle name.
