[Opinions] Thoughts on Marguerite?
What is your opinion of the name Marguerite? Do like any of the possible nns for it, including nns like Daisy or Pearl?I've liked it for years as a possible mn but lately I've been thinking that I may prefer it as a fn.

Hi !!!Marguerite sounds dated and austere.I prefer the Italian Margherita which is the variant of Marguerite and the Italian for "daisy" at the same time.Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I think Margherita is pretty but unfortunately it is a common type of pizza in the US and Margarita is a very common alcoholic beverage. Both Margherita and Margarita are pronounced the same here. Margherita/ Margarita would make for a beautiful name if it wasn't a type of food and drink, it saddens me how unusable it is.

I love Marguerite, it's so elegant yet so unfussy. Much prettier than plain old Margaret. I also like Margarita, but it has a different, much flashier feel to it.I would rather not have any nns, or at least let one develop naturally. Daisy and Pearl would not be nns to me; if I wanted to use them I'd just use them and skip the messy, rather show-off-how-nerdy-I-am step of making them nicknames for Marguerite.

I think Marguerite is elegantly old-fashioned and I love the use of the classic nicknames for it - imo Daisy is far too childish to be used as a name in its own right. I don't like Pearl as a given name either, but it's a fun nickname for Marguerite

I see Daisy and Pearl as separate names. I also like Rita and Greta but see them as fully established names as well. I guess I would just call her Marguerite. It is nice, makes me think of France and of spring :) It is really out of fashion in France but I hope it can make a comeback.

Marguerite is one of my absolute favorite names. I adore it and say it to myself all the time so that I can revel in its melodiousness. I don't ever want it to be diminutized!

I think it's really lovely and I don't think it needs a nickname. I've only ever known one (she'd be about 30 now) and she went by her full name. Her sister's name was Rebecca "Becca" and I thought it was a nice sibset; it sort of "normalized" Marguerite. The only reason I've never considered it is because I don't think I could pull it off... it's elaborate and almost sexy in a way that only certain people can carry.

I like Marguerite well enough since it's the French form of my mom's name, Margaret. Marguerite is certainly intriguing and pretty to look at although to be honest, I like it more for the potential nns, Margot and Daisy. ;-)

LOVE THIS NAME! I had to do a project in school for younger children and for two elves I named one boy Edwin and one girl Marguerite. I like it a bit better than Margaret. Marguerite is a nice name - I prefer it miles more than Margaret, which I've never warmed up to. However, while Daisy or Pearl might have worked as nicknames in the 19th century, when a name's meaning seemed to be much more common knowledge, it would seriously be reaching today, imo.
