[Opinions] Kinda Celeb BA
Jessa Seewald (nee Duggar of the Duggar family) and her husband, Ben, welcomed their second son:Henry WilberforceHe is named for the minister Matthew Henry (and also just because Jessa liked the name Henry) and William Wilberforce.Older brother is Spurgeon Elliot - named after Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon and Christian missionary Jim Elliot.I still think Spurgeon is one of the worst first names I've ever heard so Henry is a lovely surprise.

Henry is nice, but Wilberforce sounds frumpy - like someone from a Dickens novel. Viscount Humphrey Garfield Wilberforce V of Tubblebottom-Primp.
But at least it's better than SPURGEON. Couldn't they have chosen Charles Elliot instead?

Henry Wilberforce is perfect, at least compared to Spurgeon. I do love Elliot, but I agree that Spurgeon is one of the worst I've ever heard.

Henry is a lot luckier than Spurgeon, whose name sounds like vomiting. I ate too many hot wings last night and spent the next day spurgin' up my guts. But Henry Wilberforce sounds very pompous and like his name should be Sir Henry de Montmorency Fitzmaurice Terwilliger Jeeves Wilberforce, Earl of the Shambles.

I was kind of hoping it'd be as awful as Spurgeon but it might be one of the better names the family has chosen.

Poor Spurgeon, his brother got a normal first name! Elliot and Henry would have been nice for brothers.

I agree 100% but didn't put it together until you mentioned it. Even though I don't like Spurgeon at all it would be so much better as a middle name. Then they would have two kids with great first names (Elliot is not my style but I think is a really good name) and two weird middle names.

Spurgeon is a name that has been around a long time as a first, its just rarely used and maybe for a reason. The thing is, they have wacky taste with Wilberforce and Spurgeon, which could have been Henry Wilbur instead of Wilberforce. But then, they have classy taste with Henry and Elliot. They confuse me a little.

Spurgeon is spectacularly ugly! I like Henry very much

I was wondering if they would go with a similar theme and they have. I think Elliot Spurgeon and Henry Wilberforce would have matched better. None of the names bother me, because I like the sentiment.

Hi !!!Ah..The Duggar Family!
Their show arrived also here in Italy.
But I don't follow it.I'm interested only in their names.
And I disagree their choice to use J for all FN.
It is so strange!So..
Henry is a normal but boring name.
I don't care about Spurgeon and Wilberforce because I have no idea on who these people are.Anyway..Congratulation Jessa Duggar & DHByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Little Henry lucked out. I still don't understand why the couple didn't name baby #1 Elliot Spurgeon. They still could have named him after Charles Spurgeon in a more subtle way ... unless, of course, being subtle wasn't what they were going for at all. Still, it would have worked, putting an unwieldy, unattractive surname (Spurgeon, Wilberforce) safely in the middle where it belongs, imo.
